Now, it’s time to report your form 2290 truck taxes for your heavy vehicles first used in May 2022. The pro-rated form 2290 truck taxes for the heavy vehicles or trucks first used in May are due by June 30, 2022. Form 2290 truck tax is mandatory for all taxable heavy vehicles.

Its shout-out time! The deadline to file form 2290 truck tax for the vehicles first used in April 2022 is today. So, truckers and truck taxpayers with the vehicles first used this April should report form 2290 HVUT to the IRS and get the schedule 1 copy today to smoothly continue their truck operations on the public highways. If not, the IRS charges penalties, and you cannot operate your heavy vehicles without a proper schedule 1 copy. You will run into problems with state and federal authorities.

The partial period or pro-rated taxes are charged based on the vehicle’s first used month.

The general tax period starts at the beginning of July every year and lasts till the end of June the following year. So, the truckers should file their form 2290 to the IRS and get the schedule 1 copy within August 31 to continue their trucking operations smoothly on the public highways of the United States. But for the newly purchased or first used vehicles in any month other than July, IRS charges form 2290 truck taxes on a pro-rated basis. This partial-period or pro-rated form 2290 taxes are charged based on the vehicle’s first used month. It is calculated from the first used month to the end of the current tax period. Therefore, for the vehicles first used in April 2022, the form 2290 truck tax is calculated from April to June 2022, which is the end of the current tax period. So, all truckers and truck taxpayers with the trucks first used in April should file their form 2290 HVUT to the IRS and get the official schedule 1 copy within the last date. Or else, the IRS will charge penalties or late fees based on the tax amount, and it will become impossible to operate your heavy vehicle on the public highways without a valid schedule 1 copy.

How do I pay my 2290?

When it comes to E-Filing your IRS Form 2290 through an authorized E-File provider such as Truckdues.com, there are 4 different payment options.  Taxpayers can pay by Electronic Funds Withdrawal, EFTPS, Credit/debit card payment, Check or Money Order.  The options to pay by check or money order may be easier to understand, but the options for Electronic Funds Withdrawal, EFTPS and credit/debit card payment may need an additional explanation.


If you elect to pay by Electronic Funds Withdrawal, you can use either a checking or savings account.  You will need to enter the U.S. Bank Account Number and Routing Number in order for the IRS to Process the payment.  This information is typically listed on a check.

Yes, it’s everywhere now. In the world of never-ending diseases, this is the most dreadful one. It’s not to be treated by medicine rather by awareness. It’s time to be responsible and keep you aware of such calls. “SCAM” calls have increased and the threats are at a greater level. A News article very recently reported an incident of a SCAM call pretending to be from the IRS! A very elderly lady to be ripped off of hundreds of thousands. Luckily a cab driver while conversing with the customer (Victim) while dropping her off found to be it was a scam and directed the elderly lady to seek police officials.
